The God of Every Season

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.” — Isaiah 55:8–9

There is something about the changing of the seasons. I often wonder if God created them as a reminder of our spiritual walk — to teach us, steady us, and comfort us in every stage of life.

Spring whispers hope after the cold, harsh winter. It reminds us that in His perfect timing, God restores what feels lost. Even when everything looks barren, He is still working. Like the fig tree that appears dead, inside that bare branch, life is quietly preparing to bloom.

Then comes summer — vibrant, colorful, full of warmth. Yet even summer has its extremes. Some days feel like living among the blooms, and others feel like standing in the dry heat with the sun beating down. We all walk through different seasons, and sometimes it’s hard to imagine any good coming from the less favorable ones. But one thing remains certain: the same God who created every season works through every season.

I love fall. The changing leaves are breathtaking, yet even fall must endure its own transformation. As the leaves drift to the ground, they make way for winter. Their beauty reminds us that even in transition — even in loss — there is something meaningful happening. And winter, though cold and harsh, still carries its own joys: Christmas lights, snowmen, skiing, and cozy evenings by the fireplace wrapped in a warm sweater.

No matter what season we find ourselves in, God is with us — transforming us. Sometimes He prunes us in the winter, waters us in the summer, lets dead things fall away in the fall, or allows spring’s allergies to remind us that growth can be uncomfortable. Everything has its season.

And even so, we can still enjoy the snow, the warmth of a sweater, the magnificent canvas of fall colors, and the sun on our skin. Because the God who created every season is faithful to bring us through every season. All He asks is that we trust Him in the process.

He knows exactly what He is doing.

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD.

Prayer

Dear Lord, In whatever season we stand today, teach our hearts to trust You. When the winds are harsh and the ground feels dry, remind us that hope still lives, because Your Word declares that You weave all things together for good.

We do not need to understand Your ways to rest in Your faithfulness. So steady us, guide us, and let Your promises be the anchor of our souls. In Jesus name we pray…Amen.
